Twenty albums in, and Weezer still know how to open a record. “Say Yes” is the first thing you hear on Weezer, the self-titled twentieth studio album that arrived August 21, 2026, and it moves like a band with nothing left to prove and a hook they could not sit on any longer.
It sounds like vintage Weezer with the amps left up. Klas Åhlund and Kenneth Blume produced the album, and the mix keeps the guitars loud, bright, and a little scuffed. The hook lands early and keeps circling back. At just over three minutes it is built to be replayed rather than studied.
Weezer arrives after a run of singles that included “Shine Again,” “We Might As Well Be Strangers,” and “C.E.O.,” and the band has The Gathering world tour lined up behind it. Twenty records deep, and Rivers Cuomo is still writing choruses that sound like they were always sitting there waiting to be found.
