U2 released “The Greatest Show On Earth” on October 15, 2026 and, the same day, put a stadium tour behind it. Carnaval De Luz presents: The Greatest Show On Earth World Tour opens in Mexico City on February 23, 2027 with Beck in support, and the song is the third single from Carnaval De Luz, the band’s 16th studio album, arriving November 13 via Interscope Records.
These are U2’s first stadium shows since The Joshua Tree Tour wrapped at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on December 15, 2019, and the setlist is set to pull from the whole catalogue. Mexico City, São Paulo and Buenos Aires are the only Latin American stops in 2027, with Europe and North America still to be announced and a return home to Ireland in the works. Having Larry Mullen Jr. back behind the kit after he sat out the Sphere residency makes the whole thing feel like the full band stepping back into its biggest arena.
The song itself is a co-write with Brian Eno, and it sounds like it, wide open, glowing with synths, and built around lovers fighting to keep faith in each other and in faith itself. Anton Corbijn shot the video out in the California desert, where the band play a religious cult while the women do all the heavy lifting. It is funny, a little sacred, and very U2.
The band call the title “a dare, to ourselves as much as anyone,” which is a big promise to hang on a stadium run. The album has a dance-world thread too, with Martin Garrix, who already teamed with U2 on “Fireflies,” co-writing “Glorify.” U2.com presales start October 19 at 10am local, with general on-sale for São Paulo and Buenos Aires on October 22 and Mexico City on October 23.
