Sublime Announces First Album in 30 Years and Shares “Until The Sun Explodes”

Sublime is coming back with Until the Sun Explodes, a new album due June 12 and the first full-length release from the band with Jakob Nowell joining Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson. They also dropped the title track, and hearing Jakob step into this world gives the song an emotional weight that goes beyond simple nostalgia.

Jakob, the son of Sublime founder, guitarist, and vocalist Bradley Nowell, had the following to say about the new album:

“The last Sublime record that will ever be made is Self-Titled. There’s no replacing history, period. Until the Sun Explodes the album is an epilogue, and ‘Until the Sun Explodes’ the single is the epilogue to the epilogue. It is a tribute to the expansive works of Sublime, it is an acknowledgment for all that my father has done for me my entire life, and most importantly it is a thank you.
