Kygo and Ava Max are back on the same record. “Before You Know It” came out on October 16, 2026 through Sony Music, credited as Kygo w/ Ava Max, and it is the second time the Norwegian producer and the pop powerhouse have shared a single.
The first was “Whatever” in January 2024, a reworking of Shakira‘s “Whenever, Wherever” that led Kygo’s self-titled fifth album and went on to win Song of the Year at Norway’s Spellemannprisen. That is a big shadow to step out from, which makes this reunion feel like a confident one.
The artwork sets the scene before you press play. A hazy golden desert, a towering gold palm tree sculpture, and a lone figure in a cowboy hat standing on a dune. It looks like sunset-hour escapism, warm, wide open, and a little dreamy, which is exactly the lane Kygo knows better than almost anyone.
It also adds to a stacked year for him. “Save My Love” in February. “Heaven On My Mind” in May. “Take Me Back” with Max McNown in July. Ava Max has been building her own new era since “Kill It Queen,” the February lead single from her upcoming fourth album, and this one feels like a bright, easy detour on the way there.
