Drake’s Iceman rollout appears to be picking up again, and this time it is playing out across Toronto in a much louder, stranger way. On April 19, he posted a photo of ice blocks to Instagram Stories with the message, “Its in,” then later confirmed the blocks sitting at the Bond Hotel parking lot were part of the album campaign and allegedly contain the release date. He added, “Release date inside,” while sharing the location coordinates and later posting the address, 81 Bond St.
The post followed reports that an explosion near Downsview Park was actually part of a permitted video shoot reportedly connected to Drake. Residents described a chaotic scene, with loud blasts and shaking homes. One local, Rosanna Laboni, told CBC, “Just all of a sudden, everything shook. The bed shook, the floor shook, the windows were rattling, everything.” Notices in the area referenced a production called “Video Bot,” which many now believe is tied to Iceman.
Downsview Park had warned of a “pyrotechnic event” running between 6 and 11 p.m., though local councillor James Pasternak said many nearby residents never saw the notice. In a statement, he wrote, “While there was no risk to public safety and the fire was controlled, I know it was alarming,” adding, “My office is in contact with Canada Lands Company to improve communication and prevent this level of disruption moving forward.” On April 18, the Downsview Park management team also apologized publicly, saying, “We understand that the unexpected sounds were alarming and unsettling for many and we are sorry for the disruption this may have caused.”
All of it points to Iceman arriving sooner rather than later. If released, it would be Drake’s first solo album since 2023’s For All the Dogs and his first full project since 2025’s collaborative release with PartyNextDoor, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U. He has actually been teasing Iceman for nearly a year, beginning last July with a series of livestreams that previewed new material including “What Did I Miss?” “Which One,” and “Dog House.”
Drake previously spoke about that approach in a rare interview with Complex, saying, “The game is extremely calm seas right now,” and “Nobody is rocking any boat on the water and so once we discussed a livestream rollout, it just sounded like the perfect mix of risk and reward for me.” More recently, at the Juno Awards in March, he sent in a video tribute to Nelly Furtado from the studio and closed it with one more tease: “Iceman coming soon.”
Now, between the ice blocks, the Bond Street reveal, the mysterious “Video Bot” production, and the explosive stunt in Toronto, it looks like Drake is finally bringing that rollout back into motion.
