Post Malone’s first project, August 26th, landed on streaming services and vinyl for the first time on August 26, 2026 through Mercury Records. It originally went out in May 2016 the way mixtapes went out in 2016, which is to say uploaded to hip-hop blogs like the long-since-dead DatPiff and left to find its own audience. It did, and then it stayed stuck there while everything around it moved to streaming.
Ten tracks, thirty-seven minutes, and a snapshot of a rapper about six months out from becoming inescapable. 2 Chainz shows up on “Money Made Me Do It”. Lil Yachty takes “Monta”. Jaden Smith lands on “Lonely”. FKi 1st executive produced the whole thing and slipped himself a verse on “God Damn”. It sounds like exactly what it is, which is a young artist with one enormous song behind him and no real idea what shape the rest is going to take.
The title is the best detail on it. August 26 was the original release date penciled in for Stoney, the debut album that ended up slipping to December 9, 2016. So Malone named the stopgap after the deadline he missed, put it out on the day, and moved on. Coming off the back of “White Iverson”, it is the sound of a career in the seconds before it takes off.

The reissue caps a run that also took him across North American stadiums on The BIG ASS Stadium Tour Part 2 alongside Jelly Roll.
