Some records take a village. This one took one guy and a stack of old vinyl. Russ put out “Coulda Shoulda Woulda” on July 31, 2026 through his own DIEMON, and he produced, engineered, mixed and mastered the whole thing himself.
The beat is built on samples pulled from old French and Italian records, time stretched and dragged through a half time plugin until the source material and the drums are pulling in opposite directions. It feels like something soulful being held underwater while Russ talks over the top of it, calm and unbothered. The tension is the point.
He spends the song on accountability, aiming squarely at people who narrate what they were going to do instead of doing it. That is a lane Russ has lived in for years, and it still suits him, blunt, self-assured, and completely uninterested in being liked for it.
