BigXthaPlug released “BURN” featuring Ava Max on October 9, 2026 through UnitedMasters, the newest look at his fourth studio album BETTER OVER TIME, which arrives October 30. The Dallas rapper premiered it with iHeartRadio, and the pairing lands like a curveball in the best way, a Texas rap record with a pop star riding straight through the middle of it.
The song is about getting burned by the people you helped. BigX spends two verses on folks he looked out for because he thought they were friends, and one couplet sums up the whole mood: “Fool me once, but I can’t go for foolish s**t again / Them people smile off in your face, but they true colors ain’t they skin.” The official video leans all the way in, with the two of them under black umbrellas on a rain-soaked rooftop while flames burn behind them.
That contrast is exactly why it works. BigX keeps his delivery heavy and unhurried, letting the hurt sit in every bar, while Ava Max brings the lift and the shine. It sounds bitter and bright at the same time, like a late-night drive right after you figure out who was really in your corner.
The whole album run already feels big. Lead single “LITE” with Belly Gang Kushington set things off, and the guest list stretches from Lil Yachty and GloRilla to Leon Thomas and BabyFace Ray. The rollout even put each feature’s face on a billboard in their own city, with Ava Max and Leon Thomas going up in Los Angeles. Coming off I Hope You’re Happy, the country-leaning 2025 album that debuted in the Billboard 200 Top 10, BigX is heading into this chapter with serious momentum.
