Galantis is back with “Do You Mind,” and this new chapter already feels a little looser, a little bolder, and a quite interesting. The single arrives alongside the announcement of The Devil’s Tax Return: Volume 1, a new EP due October 16, and together they make it clear that Christian Karlsson is not interested in repeating himself.
There is history baked into this one. “Do You Mind” breathes new life into a song that has already moved through multiple eras of dance culture, but instead of just polishing up a familiar hook, Galantis rebuilds it with real care. The emotion in the vocal stays front and center, while the production opens it up into something fresher and more fluid, respectful of the original but not stuck inside it.
That balance seems to be the point of this era. Even the EP title feels like Karlsson smiling a little at the audience, acknowledging the pull between reinvention and expectation. Following “Stay Alive,” this second release gives the new Galantis direction more shape, and it sounds like he is trusting instinct over formula.
More than anything, “Do You Mind” feels alive. Not overly cleaned up. Not overly explained. Just a strong song from an artist who seems newly comfortable letting the edges show.
“Some records feel untouchable because they already captured a moment so perfectly. ‘Do You Mind’ is one of those tracks. Instead of trying to completely reinvent it, I wanted to celebrate what made it so special while giving it a new life,”
shares Christian “Bloodshy” Karlsson.
