Some combinations never really lose their spark. More than a decade after helping define an era of progressive house together, Alesso and OneRepublic reconnect on “In Your Eyes.”
The record carries the emotional scale you hope for when Alesso and Ryan Tedder get back in the same room. Tedder’s voice climbs through glowing melodies before Alesso opens the production into that widescreen rush that made their earlier work feel so enormous. It is nostalgic without getting trapped there.
Their history runs deep. “In Your Eyes” becomes their fourth collaboration, following a creative relationship that includes “If I Lose Myself,” “Calling (Lose My Mind),” and “Scars.” Even after all these years, the chemistry still feels immediate.
There is something especially satisfying about hearing Alesso lean into this side of his sound again. Big melody. Bigger emotion. The kind of dance record that makes a festival crowd feel like one person for a few minutes.
“In Your Eyes” sounds like an old conversation finally being picked back up, and thankfully, neither side forgot what made it special.
