The ballerinas are real. After a breakup, jigitz choreographed an eight minute ballet to his own music and hired a dancer to perform it at a DIY show, and the bit never left. His manager now keeps a standing roster of them, friends of friends, ready to turn up wherever he plays. That roster gave the album its name. 50 ballerinas arrived August 21, 2026 via R&R, and it is his debut.
It sounds like someone who tried everything and finally picked a lane. He moved through hip hop, tropical house, and hyperpop before settling into the pocket he works now, somewhere between UK garage, breakbeat, and bass music. “can’t be nothing but what i am” featuring glaive is the thesis statement, and the title does not make you hunt for it.
The run into this record did a lot of the groundwork. “car crash” with Charlotte Plank landed in Spotify’s Global Viral Top 20 and became Triple J’s most played song in Australia. “thumbs” with Lamb kept the momentum going. Before any of it he was working behind the scenes at Universal Music Group, Interscope, and the creative agency °1824, putting out his own music on the side from around 2017. The 2025 EP all my exes live in brooklyn set the table for this one.
The title carries more than a gag. jigitz has framed the ballerina as a stand in for the discipline and the unseen work behind anything that ends up looking effortless, which reads as a fair description of dance music production and of this record in particular. He brings it to Australia in December 2026 for Spilt Milk, with dates in Canberra, on the Gold Coast, in Geelong, and in Perth.
