Machine Gun Kelly made it about six songs into his headlining set before the sky opened. MGK Day 2026 closed out at North Coast Yard on Cleveland’s waterfront on Saturday, August 8, 2026, and a torrential downpour tore through the middle of the show, ripping tarps off the stage gear and killing the equipment. “Wild Boy,” “Kiss the Sky,” “Habits,” and “roll the windows up” got out. The rest of the night did not.
Everything leading up to it had gone the way it was drawn up. Friday, August 7, 2026 belonged to the Red Bull Best Trick Contest at Crooked River Skatepark. Saturday opened with a tailgate at noon and the annual Harley-Davidson City Ride, which met at South East Harley-Davidson and rolled toward the grounds at 3 p.m. Wiz Khalifa played earlier in the afternoon in heat serious enough that medics were working the crowd and the bottled water sold out. He and mgk have spent the whole summer on the road together on the lost americana tour, off the back of their joint mixtape blog era boyz.
Plenty of people ran for cover when it hit. Plenty of others stayed in the puddles and chanted his name at an empty stage. Once the rain let up, mgk came back out with an acoustic guitar and finished the night that way, which turned a waterfront festival into something that felt closer to a living room. Then he got on the mic and said something nobody in Cleveland wanted to hear.
“It’s so bittersweet. This might have been… the last MGK Day that we do. Maybe the silver lining is, there’s no f***ing way I’m going out like that, so we might have to run this back next year.” – mgk
That lands heavier than a rained-out set usually would, because MGK Day runs on donations. It is a city-sanctioned Cleveland tradition built around music, art, and giving back, with admission tied to school supplies and goods for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. Across its run it has moved more than 80,000 meals and 20,000 school supplies to Cleveland Metropolitan School District students, and this year every vendor, food truck, and crew on the books was a Cleveland business. mgk also handed 20 signed guitars to Cleveland City Hall to be raffled for back-to-school programs.
The city has been paying it back for a while. Mayor Justin Bibb proclaimed Machine Gun Kelly Day in Cleveland first, and in 2022 mgk played to more than 50,000 people at Huntington Bank Field. On August 8, 2026 the party moved to Shooters afterward, where 50 Cent closed the weekend out. Whether MGK Day comes back in 2027 is the one thing nobody has answered yet.
