Parker McCollum has a real gift for making heartbreak sound good with the windows down, and “Killin’ Me” lands right in that sweet spot. The single carries that worn-in country glow, the kind of song that feels best somewhere between last call, a long drive, and a text you definitely should not send.
The track first showed up on his self-titled album last year, but it is getting a second life now with Lee Ann Womack stepping for a duet. She does not just appear on the song, she settles into it. There is something about the way she sings that makes every line feel like it was always meant to be there, like the record was quietly waiting on her all along. It takes a rare kind of artist to join a song that late and make it feel that natural.
Now the question becomes when Parker gives us the next full project. It cannot be too far off, and we will keep you posted the second that picture gets clearer. Until then, if you have not seen him live, now is the time. He is rolling through the Southeast before heading north, and these songs always seem to hit even harder under open sky.
