Lane 8’s Cross Pollination II feels like the payoff to months of hearing IDs in mixtapes and live sets, then waiting for them to fully take shape. Out now on This Never Happened, the 14-track project builds on the spirit of the original Cross Pollination while widening the circle and giving the whole thing more emotional range. A lot of the early standouts were already in rotation, but hearing songs like “Purple Pepper,” “Candy,” “The Doubt,” “Maglia Rosa,” “Pulsar,” and “Sol” finally arrive in full gives the album a different kind of weight.
Some tracks feel instantly familiar, others land like quiet surprises, and that balance is a big part of why the project works so well. It never feels rushed, and it never feels like it is trying too hard to tie everything together. It just feels warm, patient, and fully lived in.
