ZHU has pushed BLACK MIDAS into an even deeper corner of the night. The new deluxe edition, BLACK MIDAS DLXZZZ, is out now with two new additional tracks, including “SUNDOWN,” and the haunting focus track “THE CALLING.”
The latter arrives with a visual filmed in Alaska, which feels like the perfect setting for ZHU’s cold, cinematic energy. Across the expanded project, he moves between deep house, melodic techno, and shadowy club music with complete control. The basslines breathe. The synths curl around the room. Everything feels seductive and slightly dangerous.
The story behind the album gives it even more weight. After being displaced by the Palisades wildfire, ZHU spent months rebuilding his life and making music without a permanent studio. Much of BLACK MIDAS came together on the road, shaped by late nights, unfamiliar cities, and the artists he connected with along the way. That instability became part of the sound.
Now he is taking that world across Europe and back through the United States with a run of festival dates and special BLACKLIZT appearances. ZHU has always treated live music as more than a DJ set. It is atmosphere, fashion, performance, and controlled chaos. BLACK MIDAS DLXZZZ gives him even more fuel.
