Kaskade came back to Coachella with something bigger than a nostalgia moment. Eleven years after drawing one of the largest crowds in festival history, he closed out Sunday night by revealing his next album, ‘Origin //‘, turning a huge return set into the launch of a new chapter.
The announcement landed at the very end of the performance, paying off weeks of speculation sparked by that mysterious ‘Origin // ‘ billboard in Palm Springs. And the set itself was built to match the moment, mixing career staples with unreleased music and giving the whole thing the feel of a broader live concept rather than just a standard festival appearance.
He also packed in plenty of live surprises. BUNT. joined him on stage, Crankdat popped out for an unreleased dubstep collab that hit like a sledgehammer, and Natalie Jane appeared for “Meet Again,” his unreleased record with Layton Giordani, which gave the livestream one of its more cinematic moments.
That push and pull is what made the whole set feel so strong. Kaskade leaned into his history, cracked open the door to what comes next, and made ‘Origin //’ feel like more than an album title on a screen. It felt like a statement.
