John Summit Proves He Is Him With Red Rocks ‘CTRL ESCAPE’ Pop Up Show

John F*cking Summit. I’ve been to many shows at the legendary Red Rocks venue in the outskirts of Denver, Colorado. I’ve seen John play stages big and small, from the Sphere in Vegas to who knows how many times in Miami. So you’d think it would be hard to catch me off guard these days.

But his open-to-close Red Rocks pop-up on a random April Wednesday ahead of CTRL ESCAPE album release, which officially drops on tax day, April 15th, left me in awe. I’m pretty sure I can still feel the bass vibrating my bones.

For 4.5 hours straight, starting with the first rush of fans, like the marathon-runner he is, he paced the chaos, never letting the energy flatline. He knew when to pull back for a much needed breather, dragging out an intro just long enough before unleashing one of his many weapons.

And he didn’t just do it by himself, during the show he brought out Julia Church for the live debut of “Shades of Blue,” their unreleased collaboration with Devault, as well as the throwback “Go Back” which gave the night one of it’s biggest sing-back moments (but there were a lot).

He also really hit the spot with the unreleased Subtronics ID “Eyes Cut Deeper” that quickly made it’s way around.

Big records. Big instintics. Big energy for 4.5 hours. There’s a reason he’s one of the biggest names in electronic dance music today.

Can’t wait for CTRL ESCAPE to hit the interwebs in less than a week.
