GRiZ released “Sunshine” on August 28, 2026, and the wait on this one ran about four years. Grant Kwiecinski first played it live in September 2022 at Triple Rainbow, the camping festival he hosts in Wisconsin, and people have been asking for a studio version ever since.
The track ran through his 2026 festival dates long before it ever hit streaming, turning up at EDC Mexico, Bonnaroo and the Gorge Amphitheatre. It runs three minutes and eight seconds and carries his name alone on the credits. The hook line is “I’ll be your sunshine,” which enough people have latched onto that some of them call the song by that phrase instead of its actual title.
It sounds like vintage funk with the floor dropping out from under it. Shimmering synth stabs, saxophone riffs doing the melodic lifting, and an aggressive bassline sitting underneath the whole thing. The sax is the giveaway. It is the instrument he actually plays on stage, and here it stays out in front where you can follow it, which is what keeps the drop feeling warm instead of heavy.
The single also landed inside a deliberate comeback stretch. GRiZ played two headline nights at Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside Denver on September 2 and 3, 2026, his first headline run at that venue in five years and his first Denver-area shows since coming off hiatus. A dollar from every ticket went to the GRiZ Charity Network. Four years of road-testing, two separate chapters of his career, and the song only now belongs to everybody else.
