Chris Lake, Chris Lorenzo and Kenny Beats released “Long Jacket” on August 28, 2026 through Long Jacket Music, a tech house rebuild of CAKE’s 2001 single “Short Skirt / Long Jacket”. The original went from alt-rock radio staple to the theme song for the comedy series Chuck, which is a strange enough career arc before anyone put a four-on-the-floor under it.
The flip is bouncy and mean in equal measure, and it has been doing damage live for close to a year. Lorenzo ran it at EDC Las Vegas. Lake worked it into a three-night New York run. The pair have also played it out as Anti Up, their joint alias, at Portola. It feels like the kind of record that gets Shazamed four hundred times before anybody can actually buy it.
Kenny Beats is the name that makes this one sit up. He started out as half of the trap duo LOUDPVCK in the early 2010s before becoming one of hip-hop’s most in-demand producers, cutting records with Denzel Curry and Vince Staples, then wandering into rock with Weezer. Dance releases are rare on his ledger. That cross-genre fluency is exactly why the CAKE flip lands instead of feeling like a novelty.
Both headliners are deep into a heavy run. Lake has already turned out “Make You Fight” with ATRIP, an official remix of Taylor Swift’s “Opalite”, and two tracks on Skrillex’s SOMA. Lorenzo has “Invisible” with Jazzy sitting among the year’s biggest house records. Two producers in the middle of a great stretch, and a twenty-five-year-old guitar riff along for the ride.
