Arden Jones put “black & white” out on August 28, 2026 as track four of FLASH, his debut album. It runs two minutes and fifty-two seconds, which is roughly par for this record. Eight songs, none of them longer than three minutes and twenty seconds, the whole thing finished in about twenty-one minutes.
The shape of the record matters as much as any one song sitting inside it. FLASH follows four years of EP-scale work, the fourteen-part age tape series in 2022 and the acoustic tape in November 2024, so this is the first time Jones has handed anyone a full-length to sit with. Atlantic Records and VNCLM_ have been his home since January 2022, when he became VNCLM_’s first release.
It sounds like a song made to be found rather than promoted. Jones works in the overlap of pop, hip-hop and alternative, stacking rhyme-dense verses over beats that lean nostalgic and bright, and at under three minutes he commits to one idea and gets out before it can wear thin. The album keeps circling the same light, too. “whiteout” sits two tracks further down, and the record is called FLASH.
Jones grew up in Novato, California, in the Bay Area, and studied film at Marin School of the Arts and Dodge College before any of this, which shows in how tightly the whole record is cut. He broke out on “Parallel Parking” in 2021 after it caught on TikTok, then spent 2022 releasing an EP a month. 2026 has already put him on the road with The Chainsmokers, on Passion Pit’s Pretty Penny Tour, and in front of AJR’s crowd at Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside Denver on June 29, 2026.
