ALOK is back in a different headspace on “I Wonder If You Know.” Released under his SOMETHING ELSE alias, the track trades big-stage payoff for something softer, more spacious, and a lot more emotionally dialed in.
What gives this release extra weight is the history behind it. The song had already built a quiet cult following online through earlier versions that kept disappearing because of sample clearance problems, which made it feel like one of those records people might never actually get in official form.
Now it is finally here, and that wait makes sense once you hear it. The track leans on warm piano house, a nostalgic vocal, and an easygoing groove that feels closer to a sunrise set than a festival peak, giving the whole thing a sense of calm that really sticks.
More than anything, this feels like a reminder of why SOMETHING ELSE exists in the first place. It gives ALOK room to be more intimate, more restrained, and more interested in feeling than impact.
