Chris Lake has linked up with ATRIP on “Make You Fight,” and the result feels like one of those records made to hit a room a little harder than expected. Built around a slow-rolling tech house pulse and a darker vocal edge, the new collab has plenty of weight without losing the personality that keeps it from feeling generic.
That is probably why it stood out so quickly when Lake first teased it during his Red Rocks headline debut last summer. ATRIP’s production style has always had its own shape to it, and pairing that with Chris Lake’s club instincts gives the release a gritty, heavy-lidded feel that still moves with purpose.
The timing works too. ATRIP is set to join Lake again this weekend in San Francisco, which makes the release feel like more than a one-off drop and more like a well-timed link-up between two producers who clearly understand where each other fit.
