Miley Cyrus released “Bass Persuades” on September 3, 2026, a full dance-pop single that doubles as the title track and lead single for her tenth studio album, out September 18, 2026 through Atlantic Records. It comes with a Mert Alas video and a new billing. She is going by MILEY now, no surname.
The song opens on a spoken-word verse that owes more to Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” than to anything in Miley’s own catalog, and then a throbbing eighties synth line drags it onto the floor. The hook hangs on “the kids don’t wanna dance,” which she spends the rest of the track arguing with. Mert Alas drops her into a New York poker club in the video and lets her work the room until it gives in.
It sounds like Miley going after a straight pop-star moment, all extended choreography, retro sheen and a chorus built to be shouted back. Early writeups are already reaching for Britney Spears and Madonna’s “Me Against the Music” as the reference point, and the spoken intro and four-on-the-floor push make that lineage easy to hear.
The name is its own headline. Miley has dropped Cyrus for this era, a move her father Billy Ray Cyrus has already talked about publicly. The album lands September 18, 2026, and she has two nights booked at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in October 2026 to mark it.
