Becky Hill is not letting this album rollout breathe for too long, and that is a good thing. Her new single “what do i have to do?” pushes the REBECCA era forward with a heavier pulse, bigger basslines, and the kind of emotional tension that feels ready to burst through the speakers.
What makes the track hit is that it works on two levels at once. On the surface, it sounds like a last-ditch plea to keep something from falling apart. Underneath that, though, it feels like Becky digging into something deeper, that exhausting cycle of trying to meet expectations that were never really fair to begin with.
The video sharpens that point even more. What starts like a familiar get-ready-with-me setup slowly twists into something darker, turning beauty culture, online scrutiny, and the absurd pressure put on women into a satire that is funny until it is not. Becky knows exactly how to make discomfort look polished.
At this point, REBECCA is starting to feel fully alive. Between “Hands On Me,” “More! More! More!,” and now “what do i have to do?,” Becky Hill sounds locked in, louder, bolder, and much less interested in making herself easier to digest.
