Are you kidding me? A festival in Iceland. Sign me up.
Iceland Eclipse already sounded like one of the more unreal concepts on the 2026 festival calendar, and now it has even more pull with Above & Beyond joining the lineup as a new headliner for the event’s dance programming. Set for August 11 through 15 in Hellissandur on Iceland’s Snæfellsnes Peninsula, the gathering is timed around Iceland’s last total solar eclipse until 2196, which alone makes this feel like something far bigger than a typical destination festival.
The music side is stacked too. Above & Beyond now join a lineup that already includes Apashe & Brass Orchestra, Arc De Soleil, berlioz, Booka Shade live, CloZee, Daði Freyr, Desert Hearts, GusGus, Ida Engberg, Kenny Dope, Maribou State live, Nick Warren, Nightmares on Wax, Reggie Watts, and plenty more across the dance program. It is a wide mix, pulling from electronic, live, and experimental corners without making the lineup feel all over the place.
What makes Iceland Eclipse stand out even more is that it is not built around music alone. The festival also brings in science, wellness, art, and exploration, with a capped attendance of just 3,333 people. That smaller size gives it a different feel right away, more intimate, more immersive, and a lot more curated than the average large-scale weekender.
The setting does a lot of the heavy lifting too. Glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls, black sand beaches, and a total solar eclipse are not exactly standard festival scenery. Iceland Eclipse is clearly aiming for something deeper than a normal lineup drop, blending global artists, thinkers, explorers, and cultural figures into one shared experience in one of the most dramatic landscapes imaginable.
If the goal is to make a festival feel once-in-a-lifetime, this one is doing a pretty convincing job already. Above & Beyond only add more weight to that.
