James Blunt released “Weight Of It All” on September 4, 2026, and used it to announce Airplane Mode, a 12-track album arriving November 6, 2026 through Atlantic Records. It is the second single from the record, following “Tastes Like Summer,” and the two of them are pulling in opposite directions.
Afterhrs produced it, with Blunt co-writing alongside Mikky Ekko, whose name sits on Rihanna’s “Stay.” The album was cut at Pig Music Studios in Oxfordshire, and the concept behind Airplane Mode is exactly what it sounds like, a record about switching everything off before it switches you off first.
“Weight Of It All” is acoustic, unhurried, and built for the part of the day when the noise finally stops. It feels like a man taking stock rather than making a point, which is the mode Blunt has always been strongest in. Where “Tastes Like Summer” went bright and quick, this one sits still and lets the writing carry it.
Blunt has been fairly direct about where the album came from.

Airplane Mode is his first album since Who We Used To Be in 2023, and the 2027 run takes it into 11 arenas across the UK and Ireland.
