Galantis has spent this era pulling other people’s songs apart to see what makes them tick, and the latest one reaches all the way back to 1967. “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” landed August 4, 2026, a full rework of the Frankie Valli standard and the newest piece of The Devil’s Tax Return: Vol 1, out October 16, 2026 on Ninja Tune imprint Counter Records.
The famous part is where he does the most damage. That chorus, the one everybody can sing without being asked, gets torn open into a chaotic synth blowout that keeps the melody and drops the comfort. It feels weightless and slightly unhinged, like the song is being played back through a room that will not sit still. Warm, blown out, and a little haunted.
The rest of The Devil’s Tax Return: Vol 1 lives in the same headspace. Six reworks across a wildly scattered set of source material, with The Killers, Feist, and The War On Drugs sitting next to “Stay Alive” and “Do You Mind,” which reach back to José González and Paleface featuring Kyla. Christian Karlsson built a 20-year career on pop radio structures, and this run sounds like a producer enjoying the freedom to ignore them.
“‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ isn’t from the same era as the other songs on the EP, but it felt right to include because it’s so timeless… I wanted to take it apart and put it back together to understand what made it so special.” – Christian Karlsson
