Marlon Hoffstadt has turned his biggest year yet into eight tracks of pure forward motion. Das Ist Daddy is out now, and it feels like the album version of the energy that has followed him from packed clubs to the Sahara Stage at Coachella.
“Party People” opens the project with a knowing nod to house history before the record barrels into “One Time For The DJ,” “Get Buck,” and “Don’t Give A Shit.” Rose Gray brings a softer glow to “My Darlin’,” while Niko Rubio appears on “On My Mind” and TAET and Alex Chapman close things out on “Shuga.” The pacing stays tight. No wasted space.
That fan-first spirit is baked into the title. “Das Ist Daddy,” or “This Is Daddy,” flashed across the screen during Hoffstadt’s Coachella debut, where he brought hundreds of fans onto the stage with him. Now it doubles as the name of a record built around the same communal rush.
He is wasting no time taking it back out into the world either. Hoffstadt hits Europe throughout August and September before returning stateside for CRSSD, Portola, and EDC Orlando.
