Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington Dead From Suicide By Hanging As “Talking To Myself” Music Video Is Released

Oh man is today a sad day for music. Another legend is taken from us too soon, as Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington has committed suicide by hanging himself.

He was only 41, was married, and has 6 children from 2 wives. His body was discovered Thursday morning in L.A. Chester had struggled with drugs and alcohol over the years, and said he had considered suicide in the past, citing abuse as a child by an older male.

He follows in the footsteps of Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell, who himself committed suicide the same way back in May – and today would have turned 53, seemingly as he couldn’t take the pain. In fact, Chester wrote an open letter to him that same day, and dedicated “One More Light” to Cornell when performing for Jimmy Kimmel. Cornell’s wife passed on somber thoughts on Twitter.

The band hasn’t made an official statement yet, as they’re of course in shock, but they did post a stunning photo showing the love fans had for Chester Bennington.

This news also comes on the morning that Linkin Park released a new music video for “Talking To Myself” which has already amassed 2 million views in a few hours. It’s off their recently released One More Light album, wonder if there was a hidden message there?

Check it out below, and relive their classic albums like Meteora and Hybrid Theory as well.

RIP man… RIP.
