Major Lazer & Showtek Draw Attention to Children of the Syrian War with “Believer” Music Video
Last year, Major Lazer and Showtek unleashed a filthy track called “Believer” with an uplifting message of hope. But there’s more than meets the eye to the story now that we’ve seen the music video.
It’s no question that one of the world’s biggest problems today is the Syrian Civil War, with hundreds of thousands of casualties including thousands of children who probably don’t remember life without bombs, blood, and death.
And that is what it seems the official music video for “Believer” aims to draw attention to the terrors of the conflict, and the joy that has been taken from everyone, especially the kids.
The video starts with an image of a boy, ears ringing, covered in dust, as he has flashbacks to the good ol’ days in Syria, playing soccer with his friends with smiles all around.
As the song progresses, the video keeps switching back and forth between the present and the past, as the message of the song aims to provide a small sliver of hope before a helping hand picks the boy up to endure yet another day.
