Ice Cube Launches BIG3 Basketball League For Retired NBA Players
Ice Cube is teaming up with longtime business partner and Hollywood CEO Jeff Kwatinetz and former NBA player and deputy executive director of the National Basketball Players Association Roger Mason for a new basketball league!
It’s going to be a three-on-three for retired NBA players called BIG3. Ice Cube be in charge of it’s planning, development, and execution. The league will consist of eight teams with five players per team. Each team will consist of an ex player as coach as well as captain.
“I thought of this concept as a fan who got sick of seeing his heroes retire and not play anymore,” Ice Cube tells The Vertical. “A lot of these guys can still play once they retire – just not the back-to-backs or four games in five nights.”
And he’s already recruited a bunch of players like Gary Payton, Kenyon Martin, Stephen Jackson, Jason “White Chocoate” Williams, Rashard Lewis, Jermaine O’ Neil and plenty more.
Check out more at Big3.com, coming Summer 2017.
