50 Cent Says He Wants Next Album ‘Street King Immortal’ to Be His Last Album
Has 50 Cent‘s music career been living on borrowed time since he lost his historic 2007 number-one album sales to Kanye West? The same battle that he promoted if he lost, he would retire from music. Well it looks like one of the highest selling artists ever has been mowing over retirement lately.
During a recent cover interview with Muscle and Fitness magazine, 50 Cent spoke briefly on his current status musically and revealed that he has been thinking of ending his 13-year career after the release of his long overdue fifth album, ‘Street King Immortal‘. Answering the question with the following statement:
“I want to finish with that project. I don’t want to write another record after that. You know how some artists got to have confirmation that they’re right. I have that confirmation in f*cking 35, 40 million [albums] that I already sold.”
Since 2007, 50 Cent has release two albums that failed to attain the massive success his first two albums accumulated with record breaking numbers. For Street King Immortal, over the past six years, 50 Cent has produced a handful of singles that all failed to have any momentum on the charts.
Street King Immortal was originally slated for a 2011 release on Interscope Records; however, after delays, 50 Cent left Interscope to pursue independency in 2012 and landed a distribution deal with Caroline/Capitol in the same year. Street King Immortal has still been sitting on the shelf with no release date in the near future. 50 Cent however, has been supplying his executive produced Starz series Power with a lot of great music like the show’s theme song, “Big Rich Town”.
Music isn’t the only thing 50 Cent is debating on retiring from. After being snubbed by the Golden Globe, 50 has been venting about possibly retiring his character in the current hit premiere television series, ‘Power’. 50 Cent has a development deal with Starz til 2018 that includes a new series titled, ‘Tomorrow Today’ and will be co-starring alongside Gerard Butler in the upcoming crime thriller, ‘Den of Theives’.
