Diddy First To Reach Hip-Hop Billionaire Status in 2017
Dr. Dre is gonna have to move more and make room in the Hip-Hop Billionaire neighborhood for a new neighbor in the name of Sean “Diddy” Combs. As we head into a new year, it’s already been certified that Hip-Hop will be ushering in it’s latest Hip-Hop Billionaire as Diddy elevates to a new tax bracket thanks to his many new entrepreneurial endeavors.
Today, journalist of popular business news and social media outlet Likedin‘s Paul Carrick Brunson published a foreseeable new business article labeling Diddy as the fourth black billionaire in 15 years since the first was confirmed in Bob Johnson back in 2001. Following Johnson, Oprah and Dr. Dre filled the second and third black billionaire slots.
Sean “Diddy” Combs is unquestionably a consummate entrepreneur. I predict his portfolio of Bad Boy Records, Revolt TV, Wine & Spirits, Sean John, AQUAhydrate, and more, currently valued at $750 Million, will see an overall increase in valuation strong enough to push him over the billion dollar mark. Diddy’s Bad Boy/Interscope deal is set to release new albums from Machine Gun Kelly, Cassie, and Diddy himself in 2017.
Diddy becoming a billionaire also helps to legitimize the economic power of hip-hop.
Definitely safe to say that Dre being the first to reach billionaire stature in Hip-Hop back in 2014 lit a fire under Diddy competitive nature. Dre’s billionaire buddy/former Interscope CEO Jimmy Iovine looks to be the plug for Hip-Hop billionaire gateway. Iovine co-owned Dre’s Beats by Dre brand and helped Dre land the historic deal with Apple Music that made Dr. Dre a billionaire.
In 2016, Diddy hit the road on his 20th anniversary Bad Boy Reunion Tour that sold out everywhere and featured all of the past, present, and future of the iconic label including: Carl Thomas, Faith Evans, MGK, French Montana, 112, Mase, and Cassie.
Diddy is currently prepping the release of his final album which is a sequel to his debut titled, ‘No Way Out’.
