Macklemore Depicts Raw Harsh Reality of Drug Abuse In New Video, “Drug Dealer”
In support of the upcoming MTV documentary starring Macklemore titled, ‘Prescription for Change: Ending America’s Opioid Crisis’. The Seattle-bred multi-platinum recording artist unveils a brand new music video inspired by the fight against drug abuse entitled, “Drug Dealer”. Wrote by Macklemore and partner-in-crime Ryan Lewis, the Jason Koenig-directed video shows a very raw and harsh reality check of the “Downtown” hitmaker enduring intense withdrawals and overcoming the addiction of prescription drugs.
In the upcoming MTV special, Macklemore sits down with the President of the United States himself Barack Obama, reflecting on previous past of almost losing everything around him due to his inability to fight his longtime battle with severe drug abuse.
Back in 2014, Macklemore spoke in a candid interview with MTV about his past addiction with prescription drugs, mainly opioids, that inspired three of his cataloged songs along with “Drug Dealer”, “Kevin”, “Starting Over”, and “Otherside”. See the complete revelation below:
