Childish Gambino Talks ‘Atlanta,’ ‘Star Wars,’ & ‘Spider-Man’ with Ellen
Donald Glover, better known as Childish Gambino, is on fire right now. His new show on FX’s Atlanta broke a four-year long comedy viewership record with it’s debut and has already been greenlit for a second season. In other film related news, the 33-year-old recording artist/actor/director is set to play the iconic role of Lando Calrissian (originally played by Billy D. Williams) in the upcoming Star Wars spin-off film based on a young Han Solo. Also further diving into the Disney universe as he joins the Marvel Cinematic spectrum playing in the upcoming new Spider-man film.
In Los Angeles, Gambino hit the couch of popular day-time talk show Ellen and spoke with the comedic host on being honored to play such an important role in the Star Wars Universe, being a very big deal, and how cool it is for him to make a show based on his hometown. The 10-episode debut series about two cousins looking to make it in today’s Hip-Hop’s season finale airs next Tuesday at 10pm on FX Network.
While stacked with filming responsibilities, Glover isn’t forgetting about fans of his musical alter-ego. Over the summer, Childish Gambino hosted a two-day concert in Jousha Tree, California known as Pharaohs where is performed new music off his upcoming new album. There is no official release date of the soon-to-be third full-length studio album from the Glassnote recording artist.
The new album will follow-up Gambino’s 2015, ‘Because of the Internet’.
