‘Mix’d’ Is The New Dating App That Combines Tinder And Your Taste In Music
As if Tinder, Bumble, Ok Cupid, Hinge, Mazlo, Coffee Meets Bagel, Hitch, Grinder, JSwipe, and Loveflutter weren’t enough mobile dating apps to pass the time at your 9-5, we now have Mix’d; a mirror image of Tinder, but for music lovers.
What separates Mix’d from the rest? A few cool features.
– The most notable feature is called “Concert Mode,” which allows you to link up with people who are in the same vicinity as you are while at a show. Although a cool feature, I’m grabbing someone’s phone and throwing it across the venue if they’re at a concert to play on their phone and not pay attention to the music…just rude.
– With Mix’d, you match with people who have similar taste(s) in music as you do. The app uses the API of Echo Nest, the company that Spotify bought last year. It also uses a unique algorithm to predict and suggest people who share the same musical interests as you do.
– It’s linked with your Facebook, so not only can you see the opposite’s favorite artists – you can see the upcoming events they’re headed to. Not creepy one bit.
– When you get matched with someone, you can invite them to shows that you’re going to, via Facebook, and send them music as well. You also have the option to invite friends who are going to the same show as you and start a group chat about the event. The last thing I want is to be added to ANOTHER group text, let alone with strangers I don’t know…
Noah Brunell, the creator of Mix’d, stated: “I go to a lot of shows. It’s a huge part of my life, and all my friends date girls or guys that are into the same scene,” he says. “I thought, there’s something here. This might sound close-minded, but I don’t think I could date someone who wasn’t into the same type of music that I am into. If I can’t share those experiences with the person I’m spending all this time with, then it’s gonna be a real issue.”
Don’t everyone go out and get this app at once, ok!? Download it HERE and see what you think.
