Gallant Has Truly Arrived With Debut Single “Weight In Gold”

Gallant comes from the same team behind ZHU (Mind Of A Genius label) and Krewella (TH3RD BRAIN management) so he’s got some firepower, but it also means he’s not your everyday talent.

We’ve posted a few of his track before, but we’ve been patiently waiting for the official release of this one. Today, he gifts the world his debut single “Weight In Gold” and there is not a doubt in my mind that you will instantly fall in love with it. Seconds in, you should be feeling the same emotions, the same level of potential you heard with ZHU’s “Faded” – which ended up being nominated for a GRAMMY.

Does Gallant have what it takes to reach that level? After hearing this, the answer is clearly yes. His style is hard to put into words, you’ll just have to listen for yourselves.

“Weight In Gold” was premiered by Zane Lowe on the newly launched Apple Music, but it’s also on Spotify.

Vox:

black dust in orbit cascades down like a parachute
bricks on my shoulders, this gravity hurts when you know the truth

I’m pulling my weight in gold
call me anxious, call me broke
but I can’t lift this on my own
pulling my weight in gold
call me anxious, call me broke
but I can’t lift this on my own

we dreamt like martyrs—
I never thought I was bold enough.
you pushed me further
and I take the blame for the both of us

I’m pulling my weight in gold
call me anxious, call me broke
but I can’t lift this on my own
pulling my weight in gold
call me anxious, call me broke
but I can’t lift this on my own

Oh, Universe— hold me up
you tried your best, is it ever enough when it’s already dragging me down?
