Disco Fries Rock Their Way Into EDM With Nostalgic ‘Autonomous’ EP
90’s/early 2000’s rock, alternative, punk, etc. features some of the most timeless music for those late 80’s babies like myself. I constantly find myself turning on Spotify and reminiscing to those classic albums. I won’t lie though, I haven’t had much electronic music hit me in the feels like that throughout the years of the continuously inflating EDM bubble.
But that all changed with the Disco Fries new Autonomous EP. By recruiting the likes of 311‘s Nick Hexum, Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace, Breathe Carolina & Hope Murphy, they are able to fuse the atmosphere, the energy and the vibes from the days of yore with their own flexible styles of electronic dance music to the point where I’ve listened to this EP dozens of times by now. They showcase their tremendous talent and understanding of what makes music timeless.
I’d have to say my favorite is drum & bass masterpiece “Born Ready” with Hope Murphy, but once again every single track – including the acoustic version of “Head In The Clouds” is phenomenal. It’s out now, but you can also stream it in full above.
