The Songs That Defined 2014: FITA’s Ultimate Year End Playlist
2014 was quite the year for music. The year of twerking to deep house. I don’t remember ever listening to so many songs, of so many genres in a mere 365 days. When you run a music blog that posts just about every genre, you tend to see it all – from good, clean, real house music finding its way into the mainstream and the explosion of future house/bass, and hype rap going viral taking over the airwaves, there was A LOT that went on this year, changes for better (and for worse).
So we went through and collected the 11+ hours of music that we felt defined 2014. From the artists that you’ve known for years, to those that finally broke through in 2014, and even some you probably haven’t even heard of yet, the 160+ songs have literally everything. Rap, progressive house, hardstyle, trap, deep house, indie, pop, the chillest of the chill, the hardest hitting bangers, the catchiest melodies and the grooviest breakdowns.
Names like Porter Robinson, The Chainsmokers, DJ Snake x Lil’ Jon, Drake x Octobers Very Own, Galantis, Clean Bandit, Skrillex / Diplo / Jack U, ZHU, Kygo, Rae Sremmurd, Sam Smith, and so many more had huge 2014’s, and you’ll be hearing them and more when you hit play below.
We tried to really mix it up as far as flow goes too, from highs and lows, buildups and downs, grouping by genres but at the same time keeping it pretty diverse throughout. But please keep in mind, these are NOT in order from best to worst. Anyway, hope you dig!
Hope you’re as excited to see what 2015 brings as much as we are! Enjoy.
