Donald Glover To Star In ‘Atlanta’ Comedy Series, Pilot Ordered By FX
Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino is making his way back to T.V. as FX has ordered a pilot for his new comedy series Atlanta. Glover has been developing this concept since 2013, and will serve as the Executive Producer along with Paul Simms and Dianne McGunigle of Schiff Company.
Following up Community and writing for 30 Rock, he’s going to write Atlanta too. He will of course star in the show as well, as one half of the main duo: two cousins that take different paths to navigate through the Atlanta rap scene. Glover plays Earnest “Earn” Marks, a college dropout who takes to music when his cousin finds sudden fame.
“Donald Glover is a uniquely talented actor and performer who brings real-life experience to this subject matter,” said FX Networks and FX Productions president of original programming Nick Grad, who made the announcement with counterpart Eric Schrier. “Not only is Donald a very gifted actor, he has achieved tremendous success and acclaim as the musical artist Childish Gambino. He, along with Paul Simms, has a very honest, sometimes serious, and funny perspective on life, the world of rap music and the city of Atlanta.”
This dude can do it all, and has a bright, bright future ahead of him.
