Mac Miller Signs With Warner Bros
Remember the last time you heard Mac Miller on the radio? No? That’s because until now he’s either been with Rostrum Records (who he left earlier this year) or fully independent under his own brand, REMember Music… and we all know you can’t land on the radio without major label/distribution help. Not that he needed any help topping Billboard with Blue Slide Park and then only finishing behind Kanye West and J. Cole in last year with Watching Movies With The Sound Off.
But it looks like he’s now he’s ready to take the plunge and join a major label, as he chooses Warner Bros. The deal is worth an astonishing $10 million which will give Mac the capacity to not only further his own career and release smashes, but also to cultivate artists he signs.
“Warner is the most independent thinking company I met with,” Miller told The FADER in an email. “It is a partnership and now I can focus on building my label Remember through music and let them handle everything I don’t like doing. Nothing will change in how I do things.” He added: “They have Prince.”
And to top off the news, Mac as his alter ego Larry Fisherman drops off a new song. Ready for the future?
