Lil’ Wayne on ‘Tha Carter V’: “I plan on it being my final solo album”
Yes, the last few yeras, Lil’ Wayne has kinda fallen off. But he used to be one of my favorite artists wayyy back. I still remember bumping “Back On My Grizzy” and “Sky Is The Limit” on my way to take final exams my freshman year of college, back in 2007, and listening to Carter projects even before that.
And while many (most?) can’t wait for the day he hangs up the mic, I can’t help but get a sense of nostalgia. If you’ve heard “Moment” from the YM Rise of an Empire album, it sounds like Weezy’s on his way back and ready to finish strong.
In a short interview with MTV, he states the The Carter V will be his final solo project.. unless he’s paid $25-35 mil for it. Check out the interview below.
“25 to 35 million would get me to do another solo album after this.
I didn’t smile when I said it.
I personally plan on this being my final solo album, yes and it’s definitely the final Carter album. It’s the final Carter album. It’s stopping at five.
I plan on it being my final solo album. Whenever I have to pitch in for a Young Money album, a Like Father, Like Son album and something like that and maybe something out the blue.
It seems like it will be impossible for me to work this hard again for anything else.”
