Lollapalooza Expanding To Israel In 2013
While Lollapalooza may not be known as the worlds best all-weather concert series, they continue to prove themselves the “world’s premier traveling music festival”. They began expanding in 2011 to Chile, São Paulo, Brazil in 2012, and Tel Aviv, Israel is up next beginning August 20-22nd, 2013.
Lolla and it’s collaborators have promised a minimum of 50 artists for it’s 3 day roster, all to take place in Tel Aviv’s landmark Yarkon Park. The founder of the Festival series, Perry Ferrell (of Jane’s Addiction) mentions that the whole motivation to bringing the Lollapalooza series to an international level was to reach the international music community in places that it hasn’t reached before, having been a pioneer in Chile, and now in Israel next year.
Due to Tel Aviv’s “never-ending” nightlife reputation, Perry says that the possibilities for afterparties are endless. Since the venue is located near a whole strip of hotels beachside, people will even be dancing in the water. Definitely not a bad way to end Lolla with a beach afterparty. Also, in order to accomodate Orthodox Jews who observe the Sabbath, the festival is being held from Tuesday to Thursday to guarantee an optimal turnout.
