Editorial: Ellie Goulding Announces New Album Title and Release Date
“Can finally give you all details of my next album! It is called ‘Halcyon’ and it is coming out on Oct 8th in the UK and Oct 9th in the US!”
Goulding also said of the sophomore album:
“I’m so incredibly proud of this record, I really can’t wait for you all to hear it. Going to post a little teaser later this week I think.”
Hope that last part caught your attention too…this week could involve a LOT of obsessive page-refreshing instead of working.
But back to the name of the new album–“Halcyon.” I looked it up, because I’m not as well-read as the British Lassie, and found this definition: “Denoting a period of time in the past that was idyllically happy and peaceful.”
Okay, so a fancy word for “nostalgic.” Couldn’t she have just said that?? She’s rubbing the English language in our faces.
“Anything Can Happen” is set to be the first single off of the new LP, for which Goulding is inviting fans to post Instagram pictures of words from the song’s lyrics with #EllieLyricPhotos–her favorites will be added to the song’s lyrical montage video. The single itself will be released on September 30.
If this album follows the same mood she set earlier this month with “Hanging On,” it’s going to be a damn good piece of work.
Let’s all cross our fingers that Goulding’s album will include that collaboration session she had with almost-hair-twinsie Skrillex and Swedish House Mafia members Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello.
