Swedish House Mafia Interview With Pete Tong – “Split Feels Right”
They came, they raved, they loved. As much as it saddens the EDM community that the Swedish powerhouse composed of Steve Angello, Axwell & Sebastian Angrosso is coming to an end, the group sat down tonight to talk with Pete Tong (BBC Radio 1) to give the fans the much needed information regarding why the group has decided to split following their European tour dates ending in November.

Axwell had admitted that he believes that the trio had taken the group as far as they could. “It’s very easy to just stay content with the machine that is Swedish House Mafia,” he said. “We’ve always been about challenging ourselves and doing unexpected things…Maybe it’s time to do something different now. We didn’t want to end up repeating ourselves.”
Ironically, the group also mentioned how their first concert in Sweden would also be their last as a group, alluding to the November 24th date.
Sebastian, Axwell & Steve had all expressed their feelings on how the “split feels right”, stating that SHM may have reached it’s peak. The group told Pete Tong that they still have 28 unfinished demos on their hard drives and that it is “To be continued maybe… I’m not sure.”
